Bargains in the fair town of Brighton

The festive season is with us again and along with the Selvedge fair i am doing, (see details on my last posting) i will have work for sale in my brothers open studio in Brighton.
You will find me amongst his beautiful pots in unit 3, level 5 north *New England House, New England Rd. Brighton on Thursday the 9th & Friday the 10th, 12 noon to 8 of the evening.
You might also get to meet this rather dapper deer who's been following me about masquerading as a reindeer.
I will have some lovely screen prints for you to pick up for just £10.
There are lots of bargains to be had for all those Christmas gifts as there are many other studios selling their wares so get yourselves down to it...

Another date for the diary...

The gorgeous Selvedge ladies are at it again.
Having held their first fair during the summer, which was a great success. They are holding another one in early December at the same venue with the same impeccable style and they have asked me back again which i am well pleased about.
Thanks.
I recon it's a must for the diary and not only will there be great things to purchase but they are holding workshops by www.themakeryonline.co.uk
so if you are feeling a bit crafty then check them out.

Port and Cheese at the Railway inn

I am venturing to Nottingham early next month for a weekend at the brilliant Lustre contemporary craft makers' marker, held at the Lakeside Arts Centre. 13th-14th of November.
It is well worth a look as it is so well put together and there is a really high standard of work.
I have exhibited at this great show for some years now and have never managed to get my self in to the fine city of Nottingham due to, well work.
I had planned to have a bit of a holiday with my family post this event and thought we might squeeze in a visit but due to some evil folk who stole our vehicle this will have to be postponed until another time.
My brother, the talented ceramicist Ken Eardley usually does the show too and we stay at a very classy B&B within walking distance from the show so a sunny autumn stroll can be had to the venue. It also has a pub across the road that serves rather good food, hence the Port and cheese.
Do come if you can.
For more details see the link below and if you would like me to send you a invite for the preview evening on the 12th, please drop me and email with your address to send it to.

sew -a-thon

I spent the month of August ensconced in my mother's shed hand sewing a large embroidery piece to adorn the window of The Art Shop and Gallery, Abergavenny, a little jem of a shop which holds a brilliantly stock of art supplies and up stair a gallery of finely picked work where they also hold courses.
The occasion was the yearly Abergavenny food festival, the biggest of it's kind in the country.
So with my love for all things culinary my work fits in rather well.
The linen and cotton doilies and table settings i use as a base for this piece didn't travel too far from the charity shops they were purchased from in Pembrokeshire before being stitched with a mix of cups and saucers, biscuits and cutlery .
It was an epic task but went down well. I include some close up photographs but to see it in its entirety you'll have to come and visit me at one of my forthcoming shows...

Friday 9 July 2010

Here are a few photos of some of my jewels and the boxes they come in as you can't see them on my website as yet.

Each piece has its own specific box. I hand draw the design from the coin used, the date of its minting, the value of the coin and anything i find of interest.

It has taken me 10 years to provide a proper box to hold my jewllery in and i now finally feel like a proper jewller.

A fine summery fair with Selveldge

A few weeks ago i took part in the first Selvedge summer fair. It was help in a church hall just around the corner from their dry goods shop on Archway.

All very nice, top tasting tea served on the finest floral chain and free to exhibitors! This has never been heard of before. The lovely Selvedge ladies did a great job. I actually have some photos of my stall. A first for me, i've always meant to take some and have never gotten around to it. So here they are...

by the sound of a cuckoo

Yes I've gone all summery.

My family and i have finally left the Brighton & Hove area and have decamped to Wiltshire after a collective 30 years of fun fulled life by the sea.

I am getting this blog up to date with forth coming shows and amongst the bird song that serenades me, i hear a cuckoo... ahhh how lovely.

I feel all this is rather fitting to this particular posting for a day sale i will be taking part in, held by the unique Selvedge magazine.
It is sure to be a feast of delights.
